UFC 281: A stacked card from start to finish
With a return to Madison Square Garden in New York, the UFC is set to deliver one of its most exciting fight cards at UFC 281. All the previous cards at MSG have been absolute bangers, giving us some of the most memorable fights and moments within the octagon.
The card will feature two title fights, i.e., Esparza vs. Weili for the strawweight title and Adesanya vs. Pereira for the middleweight title.
In the main event, former kickboxing foes Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira will go toe-to-toe in their first MMA bout together. 'Poatan' is the only man to have knocked out Adesanya in his entire fighting career, with two kickboxing wins over 'The Last Stylebender'.
In the co-main event, Carla Esparza will defend her strawweight title against Zhang Weili. Esparza is on a six-fight win streak, having taken the title from Rose Namajunas in their rematch at UFC 274 in May. Weili is coming off a second-round knockout win over Joanna Jędrzejczyk.
Preceding the two title fights will be Dustin Poirier vs. Michael Chandler in an electrifying lightweight bout. This fight is every fight fan's dream matchup, as both the top lightweights are certified finishers.
To make the bout that much more exciting, both fighters have shown that they don't really like each other. On paper, this fight shouldn't go to a decision.
Frankie Edgar will make his last walk to the octagon against Chris Gutiérrez at UFC 281. This bout will serve as Edgar's 30th appearance with the promotion.
In the opening bout of the UFC 281 pay-per-view, Dan Hooker will look for a spot in the win column against Claudio Puelles in a three-round fight.
