UFC 287 is set to go down on April 8 at the Miami-Dade Arena in Miami, Florida. Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya will headline the fight card in a five-round title fight.
The main event will be a rematch as the two middleweights first shared the octagon at UFC 281. That night, Pereira became the first man to finish 'The Last Stylebender' in MMA and also earned the middleweight title.
Prior to that, Adesanya and Pereira faced off twice in kickboxing fights. Both times, 'Poatan' got the better of Adesanya, winning the first fight via decision and the second via knockout.
Now at UFC 287, Adesannya will have a chance to avenge his recent loss against the Brazilian and re-capture the middleweight throne.

Israel Adesanya is 6 feet and four inches tall (193 cm) and enjoys a reach of 80 inches. The Brazilian shares a similar stature of 6'4" (194 cm), but has a reach of 79 inches, one shorter than 'The Last Stylebender'.
In their last encounter at UFC 281, 'Poatan' made 184.6 pounds during the official weigh-ins, while Adesanya touched the 185-pound mark on the weighing scale, making them both eligible for the UFC championship fight.
Adesanya is currently 23-2 as a professional fighter with 12 of those 23 victories coming inside the octagon. Apart from Pereira, Adesanya has only lost to former 205-pound champion Jan Blachowicz in a light heavyweight title bout at UFC 259.
Pereira, on the other hand, is only eight fights old in the sport and has been victorious in seven of them. 'Poatan's sole loss came in his MMA debut when he was defeated by Quemuel Ottoni via submission in October 2015.
Matt Brown weighs in on the Alex Pereira vs. Israel Adesanya rematch
UFC veteran Matt Brown has shared his thoughts on the upcoming thriller main event between Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya at UFC 287. 'The Immortal' believes that the fight will be crucial for 'The Last Stylebender's legacy.
Brown added that if Adesanya loses the rematch, it would be difficult for the matchmakers to schedule a third fight between the two arch-rivals in the future.
"This is his legacy here. He has to beat Alex Pereira for his legacy. It's that important. This is what changes his entire legacy all together. This single fight, and this is probably his last chance at it. If Pereira beats him, maybe he can work his way back to the top but he's working his way back to a third fight against a guy that beat him twice. I feel like that's a tough call for the promoters to put together."
