UFC 287 proved to be another successful outing for the global leader in MMA. The event featured some edge-of-the-seat action, highlight reel knockouts, and back-and-forth contests at the sold-out Kaseya Center in Miami.
Among those who impressed was No.6-ranked bantamweight contender Rob Font, who defeated Adrian Yanez via first-round TKO. The UFC rewarded him for his exceptional finish with the Performance of the Night bonus.
Font stifled Yanez with his famed jab, which he continued to land on his opponent at will. He closed the show with a vicious uppercut that dropped Yanez, prompting the referee to intervene and stop the fight. It looked like Yanez contested the referee's call to stop the fight and momentarily protested it.

Yanez took to Twitter to issue a statement following the loss at UFC 287 and clarified that he was not contesting the stoppage. The 29-year-old wrote:
"Just to clarify. Saw some things saying I was yelling at my coaches or saying it was early stoppage. Not true, I was yelling, but I was yelling at myself cause I fucked up. Good sh*t @RobSFont. Hope you get that figgy [Deiveson Figueiredo] fight. Thanks everybody for overwhelming positive feedback."

Font, meanwhile, rebounded from the first back-to-back losing skid of his professional MMA career and looked impressive for as long as the fight lasted.
Rob Font challenges former UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo
Rob Font's TKO victory over Adrian Yanez at UFC 287 reaffirmed his status as one of the best bantamweights on the planet.
Prior to the bout, many in the MMA community appeared to disregard Font. Yanez, who hoped to make significant advances up the rankings and move closer to title contention with a victory, was the betting favorite heading into the fight as he was unbeaten in the UFC and on a nine-fight win streak overall.
However, Font delivered an emphatic upset to defend his spot in the division. At the post-fight presser, the Massachusetts native called out former flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo:
“I would love to do ‘Figgy’ vs. Font, man. [Deiveson Figueiredo], I’d love to introduce him to the 135-pound division. I think that’d be a fun fight. I think I like fighting big names. I definitely don’t want to fight backward, but I think me and him could definitely be a great fight. He’s a former champ. He’s exciting. I know he’s going to talk a lot of sh*t. I think it’d be a great, entertaining type of fight, and I think I need another big name like that.”

Figueiredo's last fight was his title loss to Brandon Moreno earlier this year. The Brazilian, who was always considered massive for the 125-pound bracket, announced in his post-fight interview that he would move up to the bantamweight division for the remainder of his career.
