Rickson Gracie slams Kron Gracie's last performance
Despite emerging as an intriguing prospect following a successful grappling career, Kron Gracie's first loss was followed by an absence that led many to believe he had retired.
Following the loss, Kron and his father Rickson Gracie had a disagreement, prompting the fighter to move his gym to Montana. During a recent appearance on the Trocação Franca podcast, Rickson slammed his son's performance against Cub Swanson.
Their 2019 bout at UFC Fight Night 161 won Fight of the Night honors on the night and it largely played out on the feet. Citing Kron's inability to fight strategically against a seasoned striker like Swanson, Rickson said:
"What he showed me was a lack of ability to work strategically on someone else’s weakness. I never liked clashing heads. I always liked catching someone when they were distracted, to surprise them. I don’t like taking the toughest path, I like taking the door that’s open, the easier way to win."
