The UFC 304 event is set to be headlined by the Leon Edwards vs. Belal Muhammad rematch. Edwards will put his UFC welterweight title on the line against longtime rival Muhammad. Additionally, the co-headlining match would also be a rematch, as Tom Aspinall looks to defend his interim UFC heavyweight title against Curtis Blaydes.
The first Edwards-Muhammad encounter transpired in March 2021. It ended in an NC (No Contest) in round two after Muhammad was incapacitated due to an eye poke from Edwards. It was a non-title bout, in the aftermath of which both fighters continued their winning ways. Edwards notably went on to win the UFC welterweight title and notch two successful title defenses.
On the other hand, the first Aspinall-Blaydes encounter took place in July 2022. It ended in a first-round TKO victory for Blaydes after Aspinall suffered a gruesome knee injury. Aspinall bounced back and subsequently won the interim UFC heavyweight title by knocking out Sergei Pavlovich last November and has set up a rematch against Blaydes.
The winner of their fight would become the new interim UFC heavyweight champion and is expected to fight the winner of the Jon Jones-Stipe Miocic UFC heavyweight title fight.
