UFC 309: Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic: Main card, start time, main event walkouts, and more

The UFC 309 main card's star attraction is a fight that's been a subject of intense debate and discussion for many years. The much-awaited pay-per-view event's headlining match pits reigning UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones against former UFC heavyweight titlist Stipe Miocic.

The current interim UFC heavyweight titleholder, England's Tom Aspinall, is expected to serve as the backup/replacement fighter for the aforementioned matchup. The event will be held at Madison Square Garden in New York on Nov. 16, 2024.

The UFC 309 event's co-headlining match is a rematch between ex-UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira and ex-Bellator lightweight champion and current UFC lightweight Michael Chandler. The Oliveira-Chandler victor could be catapulted into the lightweight title picture come 2025.

The early preliminary card will kick off the UFC 309 event, followed by the preliminary card, and then the main card. Speaking of the main card, it's expected to be opened by a lightweight bout between Mauricio Ruffy and James Llontop. That will be followed by a women's flyweight match between Viviane Araujo and Karine Silva.

The ensuing matchup would be a middleweight showdown between the unbeaten Bo Nickal and fellow grappling savant Paul Craig. Moreover, the aforementioned fights will be followed by the co-headlining and headlining matchup that will close the show.

For viewers in the United Kingdom, this means the early prelims start at 12 am BST, the prelims at 2 am BST, and the main card at 4 am BST on Sunday (Nov. 17, 2024).
