The Dagestani now also has the most title fight wins in the lightweight division. By successfully defending his throne four times, Makhachev has broken Khabib Nurmagomedov's record for the most successful lightweight title defenses.
With 15 straight victories, the Dagestani now also has the third-longest undefeated streak in UFC history.
The co-main event featured a thrilling bantamweight title bout between Merab Dvalishvili and Umar Nurmagomedov. The fight was a back-and-forth affair where both fighters had moments of success. The contest went the 25-minute distance and ended in a unanimous decision victory for 'The Machine'.
During the fight, the bantamweight champion surpassed MMA legend Georges St. Pierre for the most takedowns in UFC history (91).
The bantamweight clash electrified the crowd in attendance and as a result, was honored with the 'Fight of the Night' honors. Both fighters received an extra sum of $50,000 each.
Former champions Jiri Prochazka and Jamahal Hill locked horns on the main card of UFC 311. The fight was action-packed with several exciting moments from both athletes. In the end, Prochazka reigned supreme as he scored a knockout victory in the third round.
