A lightweight title fight between Islam Makhachev and Renato Moicano will headline UFC 311 later tonight (Jan. 18) at Intuit Dome in California. Moicano was brought in as a late replacement after No.1 contender Arman Tsarukyan pulled out of the event due to a back injury.

With three title defenses already under his belt, reigning champion Makhachev (26-1) stands to make history at the pay-per-view.

A win over Moicano would make him the only fighter to defend the 155-pound title four times, surpassing his friend Khabib Nurmagomedov and former champions Benson Henderson and B.J. Penn.

The Dagestani is on a 14-fight win streak, with victories against bonafide legends including Charles Oliveira, Alexander Volkanovski, and Dustin Poirier.

In the other half of the event, Moicano (20-5-1) was originally slated to face Beneil Dariush at the event, but Tsarukyan's injury propelled him to the top of the bill.

'Money Moicano' will be in no short of confidence heading into the pay-per-view, seeing that he has already stated his confidence in beating Makhachev in the past. The 35-year-old is riding a four-fight win streak, most recently clinching a unanimous decision win over the dangerous Benoit Saint-Denis.

The lightweight kingpin will head into the event as a -1200 favorite, with Moicano as a +720 underdog. The main card of UFC 311 is now live. Stick with Sportskeeda for live coverage and play-by-play updates from the fight card.
