A heavyweight showdown between Jailton Almeida and Serghei Spivac took place on the main card of UFC 311 on Jan. 18. The event is currently in progress at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.
Almeida walked into the fight with a submission victory against Alexander Romanov at UFC 302. Spivac, on the other hand, entered the contest with a submission victory over Marcin Tybura in August 2024.
Spivac started the fight on a good note as he scored a takedown in the opening minute of the bout.

From the top position, 'Polar Bear' landed some strikes. But Almeida managed to reverse positions and got on top of Spivac. The 29-year-old returned the favor by pulling off a reversal of his own.
The two fighters got back on their feet and Almeida landed several heavy blows. The Brazilian took the fight to the ground and went on to score a TKO victory in the closing seconds of the first round.
