UFC 5 features the Frostbite engine for the first time in its history
UFC 5 will utilize EA Sports' Frostbite engine in an attempt to create the most realistic and responsive MMA game to date. In a detailed video, EA Sports took a 'deep dive' into the new features in UFC 5.
The publisher revealed that the game will feature a new system for cosmetic damage, such as cuts, lacerations, and bruises, making the combat all the more impactful. This system also extends to injuries, meaning cumulative damage will now be more engaging as the fight progresses.
With these systems, doctor stoppages are now a possibility in UFC 5. The grappling system in the game has also seen a significant improvement and has been expanded upon greatly.
For example, a blow to the mouth or nose will temporarily decrease stamina recovery. The game also sees significant upgrades to its defense system, with overhauls to blocking, lunging, and head movement.
