UFC bantamweight shares unexpected "life or death" retirement plans after just one loss

UFC bantamweight Saidyokub Kakhramonov recently claimed that his next fight could be his last.

The 27-year-old made his promotional debut in 2021 and went on to win his first two bouts. His third fight against Said Nurmagomedov at UFC Vegas 66 saw him lose via submission in the second round. With just one loss, it seems that Kakhramonov might be ready to hang up his gloves.

Kakhramonov made the revelation via a tweet sent as a reply to a conversation thread. For context, unbeaten bantamweight Umar Nurmagomedov has tweeted an open callout for any bantamweight to face him in March. In response to this, lightweight contender Terrance McKinney suggested his Uzbek teammate Kakhramonov by tagging him in the replies.

The 27-year-old UFC fighter seemed keen on the matchup but also joked about focusing on running his own promotion if he lost:

"Technically I’m #15, just give me this fight. Plus It’ll be my last fight. Life or death situation. If I die I’ll move on focus on my promotion. Be a small town Dana White.

Umar Nurmagomedov names one opponent he refuses to fight in the UFC

Umar Nurmagomedov's undefeated record has made him a formidable opponent for any bantamweight looking to progress in the division. The Dagestani fighter has struggled to find an opponent willing to take him on and has previously expressed his frustration on Twitter.

Despite his lack of willing opponents, the No.11-ranked bantamweight once surprisingly named an opponent he did not want to face.

After his career-first knockout win against Raoni Barcelos at UFC Vegas 67, Nurmagomedov referenced Ricky Simon's comments about not fighting a lower-ranked opponent, saying:

"Even this guy Ricky Simon. He say, ‘Hey, who are you like this'... No, I don’t want to fight with him. I have a different name. It will be in March... I don’t want to fight with him because of when I asked him to fight with me, he say, ‘Oh who are you?’ I will show you who I am... Anybody. Anybody, I don’t care. But not this guy. I don’t want to give him a chance.”
