UFC champion Dricus du Plessis shares heartwarming reaction to girlfriend’s photos from New York

UFC middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis is undeniably winning in life currently. Aside from being atop his division in the UFC, 'Stillknocks' is arguably one of the most prominent South African athletes today. On top of this, he's in a beautiful relationship with a remarkable woman.

Du Plessis' partner, Vasti Spiller, a photographer and boxing enthusiast, recently visited New York City and posted a few snaps of herself exploring the sights around the island of Manhattan.

Dricus du Plessis explains why he chose Khamzat Chimaev over Sean Strickland

Since defending his belt against Israel Adesanya last August, Dricus du Plessis was bound for a rematch with No.1-ranked former champ, Sean Strickland. 'Stillknocks' took the belt from 'Tarzan' at UFC 297 earlier this year in a close split decision win. With both men winning their subsequent bouts after, it was a no-brainer that the world needed to see them run it back.

However, after No. 3-ranked Khamzat Chimaev obliterated former divisional titleholder Robert Whittaker in just over three minutes at UFC 308, the champion is singing a different tune. Now, du Plessis is eyeing 'Borz' as his next challenger, setting Strickland aside in the meantime.

Explaining why he did this, 'Stillknocks' told TMZ;

"Listen, I completely welcome the rematch [with Strickland]. I would love to get that finish because for Sean, he needs a win back [and] I need a finish. And for him, he doesn't miind fighting boring fights that's why he has, what, seven or eight split decision wins."

'Stillknocks' continued:

"For me, I go out there and I want to fight a guy that comes out there throw down, not say that he's going to and then jab for five rounds."

Chimaev is one of the most feared fighters in the UFC today, due to his powerful wrestling and unstoppable finishing ability. Du Plessis, on the other hand, is a grappling specialist with an awkward striking game that bewilders even the most seasoned of strikers. A bout between the two is definitely intriguing as du Plessis will present challenges Chimaev has not seen in his other UFC opponents so far.
