UFC Charlotte 2023: Expected fight card, venue, tickets and other details

UFC Charlotte will see the biggest MMA promotion in the world return to North Carolina for the first time since 2018. The promotion took to Twitter to share that a UFC event will be held in Charlotte on May 13 at the Spectrum Center.

As per an MMA Junkie report, UFC Charlotte is set to be headlined by a light heavyweight clash between Anthony Smith and Johnny Walker.

UFC veterans Matt Brown and Court McGee are set to face off at welterweight, while surging heavyweight contender Jailton Almeida will take on Jairzinho Rozenstruik in a battle of grappling versus striking. Additionally, grappling phenom Mackenzie Dern will face Angela Hill in the women's strawweight division.

Welterweight prospect Ian Machado Garry will face a tough test against Daniel Rodriguez in what should be a striking spectacle. Furthermore, Tim Means and Alex Morono are set to face off and will both be looking to bounce back from defeats in their last outings.

Ihor Potieria, the man who defeated MMA legend Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua at UFC 283 earlier this year, is set to face light heavyweight slugger Carlos Ulberg in an exciting clash. Also, promising women's bantamweight contender Jessica Rose-Clark is set to return to the octagon after nearly a year away from competition. She will welcome striking specialist Tainara Lisboa to the UFC.

Please note that the UFC is yet to declare which order these bouts are set to take place and that the headlining fight is all that has been confirmed.

Tickets for the May 13 UFC card are yet to go on sale.

Umar Nurmagomedov reveals massive clash that could have happened at UFC Charlotte

Surging bantamweight contender Umar Nurmagomedov has revealed that he was offered a bout against No.1-ranked contender Merab Dvalishvili at UFC Charlotte in May.

However, according to the Dagestani, Dvalishvili picked up an injury and will be unable to commit to May 13.

'The Machine' put on a dominant display against former champion Petr Yan at UFC Fight Night 221, winning the bout via unanimous decision. The injury that Dvalishvili picked up has not yet been disclosed, but it is likely that it occurred during the bout.

Umar Nurmagomedov took to Twitter and stated:

"ufc @danawhite offer me main event, May 13 I accept against Merab he have injury I wish him a speedy recovery, but I’m waiting to share the cage with him June or July"
