Following UFC 307, which took place last Saturday on Oct. 5, the promotion has reshuffled its cast of fighters. Unfortunately, for several, including longtime roster-member Ovince Saint Preux, it marked the end of their stint with the promotion. 'OSP' emerged from last weekend on the receiving end of a loss.
Not only was he beaten, Ryan Spann submitted him. To make matters worse, the submission loss occurred in round one, making Saint Preux the first win Spann has enjoyed since 2022, snapping the latter's three-fight losing streak.
Given Saint Preux's poor run of form and 41 years of age, the UFC saw fit to release him, which was reported by on X/Twitter by UFC Roster Watch, which monitors the promotion's releases and signings.

Others who were given the boot include Herbert Burns, the younger brother of one-time welterweight title challenger Gilbert Burns. The former was TKO'd by Jack Jenkins, marking his fourth consecutive loss, with all four defeats being stoppages.
Brian Kelleher, Ricky Glenn, Jarno Errens, Danyelle Wolf, Victoria Leonardo, Brianna Fortino, Kay Kruschewsky, Da Woon Jung, Victor Altamirano, Karl Williams, Kleydson Rodrigues, Blake Bilder, TJ Brown, Jarjis Danho, Yanis Ghemmouri, and Christos Giagos are among the released fighters.
Two others were also cut prior, with Alexander Munoz struggling with injuries and Luis Pajuelo for testing positive for 19-norandrosterone, which is a metabolite of nandrolone, an anabolic steroid. It didn't help matters that Pajuelo's only bout in the promotion was a first-round submission loss to Fernando Padilla.
Ovince Saint Preux's recent UFC record has been poor
While Ovince Saint Preux once challenged Jon Jones for the UFC interim light heavyweight title, he has not come close to reaching those heights since. A roster-member since 2013, 'OSP' has struggled greatly as of late. In fact, he hasn't been on a win streak since 2017. Since 2018, his record has been 5-8.
Additionally, that rough patch consisted of two losing streaks. At 41 years old and having found little success over recent years, 'OSP', who even sought, and failed, to reinvigorate his career with a heavyweight stint, was ultimately cut.
