The newly crowned UFC middleweight champion Alex Pereira is easily one of the hardest hitters in the 185 lbs division, a fact he solidified by being the only man to have knocked out former dominant champion Israel Adesanya.

During the recent UFC 283 meet-and-greet in Rio de Janeiro, 'Poatan' once again displayed his monstrous power by effortlessly setting a new high score on the promotion's punching machine at the event venue.

Pereira registered 969 points on the machine, handily surpassing the previous high score of 867.

Reacting to the Brazilian's insane punching power, MMA fans took to Twitter to express their thoughts on the middleweight kingpin.

Twitter user @Lunch77Beatz joked that Pereira might have been imagining that the punching bag was his rival Israel Adesanya's head:

"He simply imagined he was punching Izzy and that power appeared."

Another user, @EraserBy, stated that 'The Last Stylebender' might be having second thoughts about a rematch after seeing Pereira's insane punch:

"Israel Adesanya had nightmares all night and thought about refusing the rematch."

Netizen @usachamp42069 opined that the Brazilian is literally 'Poatan.' In Pereira's native language of Tupi-Guarani, the term Poatan means "hands of stone."

@manny_mma_ stated that heavyweight fighters are usually the ones who score 969 on a punching machine.

@kjcombat suggested that Alex Pereira would've scored even higher if he punched with his dominant left hand.

In a rather hilarious response, @whatahwhatahw claimed that the score would've been much higher if the punching bag had a picture of Adesanya on it.

When Glover Teixeira explained Alex Pereira's unreal punching power

In an interview with ESPN MMA, prior to UFC 281, former light heavyweight champion Glover Teixeira explained that he had never seen anyone who had insane power and equally good technique until he met Alex Pereira.

According to Teixeira, power is the great equalizer. The 43-year-old sees 'Poatan's power as a unique gift that the Brazilian possesses and is not something people can achieve with any amount of training:

"He got tremendous power. I [have] never seen somebody hit that hard and also have that technique and timing... It's like my coach... power is the most difficult thing for a fighter to deal with, you know, [as] an opponent... that's a gift that Alex have... You've got to say it's a gift... You can train as much as you want, you're not going to hit like Alex if you're not a natural puncher."
