The 145er is quickly becoming one of the most must-watch British fighters since making a move up a division from bantamweight. 'The Prospect' has a career of ups and downs in the UFC, but has seemingly found his feet as a featherweight. Wood hopes to remain undefeated in the weight class.

After the shameful news broke about a schoolgirl being "beaten unconscious," Nathaniel Wood shared his thoughts on the matter and appealed for the parents of the attackers to be spoken to about the unfortunate events:

According to reports, Abbie had plans to meet a friend but was attacked by a group of "up to ten". While some filmed on their phones, others beat the autistic young girl and left her soaked in her own blood. This disgusting act of violence has been commented on by the understandably distraught mother of the victim.

Alongside Nathaniel Wood, fellow MMA figure Marc Goddard took time to send his prayers towards the innocent child. The referee admitted that he's "broken hearted" after reading the story.

Abbie has since moved schools, but the events of the night still haunt her and her mother. Despite being described as having "an amazing personality" and being "very loyal," the girl now finds it tough to leave the comfort of her home, as reported by Wales Online.

Nathaniel Wood's stellar run in his new division

Since making a permanent move up to featherweight, Nathaniel Wood has looked sensational and has proved his doubters wrong. Why has he been so impressive in his new division?

After battling to a 4-2 record in the UFC, the Englishman decided it was time for a change. 'The Prospect' began planning the steps to compete 10lbs higher than his natural weight class.

His first outing was on July 23 at UFC London, where he put on a masterclass. He was one of the most impressive athletes on the night against a gritty Charles Rosa.

Most recently, Wood matched up against fan-favorite Charles Jourdain in a fight many expected him to lose. Though both men put on a show, it was the Londoner who got the nod from the judges.
