The Ultimate Fighter alum Tresean Gore finally snagged his fist in the UFC.
Gore took on Josh Fremd in a main card middleweight bout at UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs. Allen on Saturday in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Gore started out with a strong sense of urgency, going straight for a takedown. Fremd defended with a guillotine attempt, but to no avail. However, the combatants would find themselves back on their feet moments later.
Gore was persistent in trying to shift the fight to the ground. He went for another takedown, putting Fremd against the cage. From there, 'Mr. Vicious' was able to scoop Fremd up and slam him to the canvas. Gore proceeded to take the back and got both hooks in. Fremd was able to escape after a scramble.

Heading into the second round, it looked like Gore was fizzling out after an impressive showing in the opening round. Fremd shot for a takedown of his own but Gore locked in a guillotine choke in the process.

Tresean Gore opens up about depression heading into UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs. Allen
After an impressive showing at TUF 29, Tresean Gore suffered back-to-back setbacks in his first two outings in the UFC. He lost a unanimous decision to TUF 29 castmate Bryan Battle in February before getting knocked out by Cody Brundage five months later.
In the lead-up to his third UFC appearance of 2022, Gore revealed that he was battling some personal demons. During an interview with The All Star, Gore said:
"I was smoking because I was depressed. My mother just had her leg amputated because she has diabetes and hasn’t been taking care of herself. She’s still my hero, she’s still a great woman but that’s something that made me fall into depression."
He added:
"To be honest, I was smoking a lot of weed. I quit smoking weed right before I went to Vegas so I didn’t have an appetite [on] Monday [or] Tuesday. Wednesday I ate a little tiny bit but I had my first cut of nine pounds, then I cut eight pounds Thursday, then I cut four pounds Friday morning. So, my whole week was spent starving myself and trying to make weight."
