Former interim title challenger Cory Sandhagen, on the other hand, holds a pro record of 15-4 with notable wins over Frankie Edgar and Marlon Moraes.

Marlon Vera is ready for any challenge UFC throws at him

During a recent interview with MMA Junkie, Marlon Vera was asked whether he thinks he'll get a title shot with a win over Cory Sandhagen, and the ever-so-confident Ecuadorian had a fitting answer.

'Chito' stated that impressive performances always land title shots. However, he is not oblivious to the fact that there are multiple fighters who have valid claims for a title shot, and as such he is ready to prove his mettle against any of the top contenders:

"I feel that great performances always will set you up for a title shot. You know, the UFC has got a couple of guys that are ready for a belt, I'm one of them, Cory [Sandhagen] is one of them, Merab [Dvalishvili] is one of them... I'm just going to take them in any order. The UFC lines them up for me, and I'm [going] to make sure that I'm putting them away."
