The hype train surrounding Terrance McKinney recently came to a screeching halt after Drew Dober survived an extended onslaught to turn the tables on 'T-Wrecks-.
Regardless of the outcome at UFC Vegas 50, McKinney did enough to leave a lasting impression on the MMA community as a whole, with several professionals coming out to support him on social media.
In addition to support from the likes of Henry Cejudo, Jamahal Hill, Derek Brunson, and Aljamain Sterling, several fighters and pundits hailed the first round of their clash as the round of the year, owing to the high octane action that went down at the UFC Apex.

However, Terrance McKinney also received some advice from MMA professionals and analysts to ensure that such mistakes are avoided in the future. McKinney was advised that an MMA fight lasted much longer than two minutes and pacing himself to survive the entire duration of the fight was essential.
In the aftermath of his lightweight bout against Dober, McKinney took to social media to hail his opponent as a legitimate threat and thank his supporters and well-wishers for all their kind words.
The UFC Vegas 50 bout against lightweight veteran Drew Dober marked a quick turnaround for Terrance McKinney as he replaced Ricky Glenn on short notice, who withdrew from the fight.
McKinney last featured in a bout against Fares Ziam at UFC Vegas 49, headlined by Islam Makhachev and Bobby Green, back in February 22. He walked away from the bout with a first-round submission win.
Drew Dober admits Terrance McKinney put him through the hardest round of his career
In the wake of their lightweight bout, Drew Dober admitted that although he had expected a relatively easy fight, Terrance McKinney forced him into the hardest round of his career. Dober confirmed as much while in conversation with Paul Felder during the post-fight octagon interview.
However, he relied on his superior experience and his training to survive the onslaught that was initiated by McKinney to emerge triumphant against all odds.
“The guy hits hard. It was one of the toughest first rounds of my career. I don’t quit. I’m from Nebraska. This is how we’re trained. He brought the heat and I was able to bring it back,” said Dober.

Terrance McKinney started the fight off strong, hunting for a quick finish. However, the veteran refused to give up that easily and weathered the storm to eventually land a knee to send McKinney to the canvas.
What followed was a flurry of strikes from Drew Dober until the referee felt like they had seen enough to call a stop to the contest, earning Dober a first-round TKO win.
