The UFC is returning to the Prudential Center In Newark, New Jersey on Saturday, June 1, 2024 (U.S. time) for the upcoming pay-per-view event, UFC 302: Makhachev vs Poirier.
The card will feature a highly-anticipated title bout atop the bill and a series of other exciting matchups across various divisions.
A highly-anticipated title showdown between reigning 155-pound king Islam Makhachev and Dustin Poirier will headline the pay-per-view card.
Makhachev captured the lightweight throne with a second-round submission victory over Charles Oliveira at UFC 280. The Dagestani made his first title defense by outpointing then-featherweight champ Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 284. He followed that up by obliterating 'The Great' via first-round knockout in a rematch at UFC 294 last October.

Makhachev hasn’t lost in nearly nine years, with the knockout loss in his second UFC fight being the only blemish on an otherwise spotless professional MMA record. With another successful title defense, Makhachev would tie Khabib Nurmagomedov and B.J. Penn for the most 155-pound title defenses in UFC history.
Dustin Poirier, meanwhile, is getting his third crack at the undisputed lightweight gold after going 0-2 in his previous title fights against then-champions Khabib Nurmagomedov and Charles Oliveira.
The perennial lightweight contender is coming off a second-round knockout win over French standout Benoit Saint Denis at UFC 299 in March. Poirer will look to make the most of this title opportunity for what could be his last shot at the 155-pound throne.

Former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland will also feature on the UFC 302 card as he battles the No.7-ranked Paulo Costa in the night's co-main event.
Strickland will look to bounce back from his split decision loss to Dricus Du Plessis earlier this year. 'Tarzan' dropped the 185-pound gold to 'Stillknocks' just four months after capturing it from Israel Adesanya at UFC 293.
Paulo Costa, meanwhile, will look to regain momentum after losing to former divisional champion Robert Whittaker at UFC 298, marking another setback in his octagon career. The Brazilian has a 1-3 record in his last four fights.
The main card will feature another exciting 185-pound contest as fan-favorite Kevin Holland takes on Michal Oleksiejczuk.
In another intriguing battle, Niko Price will square off against Alex Morono in a welterweight showdown.
Also at UFC 302, Randy Brown will go up against Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos in a welterweight battle to kick off the main card.
