UFC featherweight Lando Vannata recently called for gun rights after an attempted break-in in his neighborhood. Vannata, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, recently provided a spine-chilling version of a reported break-in at his neighbor's house Thursday night.

'Groovy' was initially alerted by his phone about the miscreant, who was standing in his driveway. The UFC fighter sprung into action as the perpetrator made his way toward Vannata's neighbor's house. The 30-year-old wrote on Twitter:

"Albuquerque is wild. Stay strapped. Last night around 12:30 I was laying on the couch and a ring alert went off on my phone, I long press the notification and see a guy standing in my driveway dressed in an oversized grey coat and beat up old jeans. I open the live video. He’s walking across the street and climbing over my neighbor's backyard wall. I jump into action."

Vannata pressed the lock button on his car keys a few times, hoping to scare off the miscreant. However, the unknown perpetrator only took a look at Vannata's car before making his way to the neighbor's balcony.

Vannata called his neighbor and was relieved to hear that she wasn't home. 'Groovy' then strapped himself, took a torchlight, and started yelling at the unseen wrongdoer. It was then that the miscreant showed himself and even challenged Vannata before disappearing.

UFC fighter Lando Vannata claims the miscreant targeted more than one household

When the police arrived, Lando Vannata was surprised to hear that they were on another call. Two other cops showed up for Vannata's call and the UFC fighter was just detailing the episode when he learned that the miscreant had targeted another house in the neighborhood.

A household comprising of a husband, wife, and two kids was able to fight off the assailant and lock themselves in. The police were on the miscreant's tail when he reportedly beat up a man on a bike before fleeing into the woods. Advising Americans against voting for Democrats, 'Groovy' wrote:

"The scumbag proceeded to beat up a man riding his bike before fleeing into the woods. I don’t know if the cops caught him when they went looking, but my eyes will be peeled. If you want this sh*t to constantly happen in your city too, #voteblue"

Vannata also posted a low-resolution image of the suspect, likely from the fighter's own security cam.

Vannata has gone 4-6-2 in his UFC career and is coming off a first-round submission loss to Charles Jourdain.
