UFC Hall of Famer discusses Imane Khelif controversy at Paris Olympics: "Someone wins the gold medal and you're not clearing her name"

A UFC Hall of Famer recently discussed Imane Khelif's controversy at the Paris Olympics this past month. He noted that the gold medalist had been unfairly targeted with misinformation and believes there needs to be a resolution that puts questions to rest.

The Algerian boxer won the Olympic gold medal in women's welterweight boxing last month after defeating Yang Liu in the finals. Her Olympic journey was far from the enjoyable experience that others had because there was constant social media backlash regarding her gender and perception of chromosomes and anti-doping tests.

While speaking to VladTV, UFC Hall of Famer Ken Shamrock weighed in on the controversy and highlighted the negative impact of misinformation. Shamrock questioned why there has not been any attempts at clearing the Algerian boxer's name and mentioned that Khelif should consider doing a chromosome test to finally silence all the doubters. He said:

"I truly don't understand in that whole scenario. If I was [Khelif], I would go and get that [test] done and put it to a rest...It's just odd, really odd that someone wins the gold medal and then you're not clearing her name, that's just weird...If she would just go and shut these people up by just going and getting this done with a doctor that says, 'Here's the facts', done. Ken Shamrock explains why litigation isn't a wise strategy for Imane Khelif

In addition to weighing in on Imane Khelif's controversy during the Paris Olympics, Ken Shamrock explained why seeking litigation wouldn't be the wisest strategy in clearing her name.

During the aforementioned interview, Shamrock mentioned that litigation only masks the issue and results in a financial loss. He said:

"You know when they say that they're suing somebody, they're not suing them because that costs a lot of money to do that, and they're saying that because it's easier to say that than something else." [3:10 - 3:22]
