A UFC Hall of Famer recently dismissed the excuses for Sean O'Malley's performance against Merab Dvalishvili, which saw the Georgian earn a unanimous decision win to become the new bantamweight champion. The bantamweight title clash headlined the promotion's first event at the Sphere in Las Vegas and was a spectacle as they celebrated Mexican Independence Day.

Since the loss, there were many in the MMA community, who have weighed in and shared their thoughts on why 'Suga's performance wasn't as good as his past performances, including his title win over Aljamain Sterling. O'Malley even took to his social media and claimed that he should have won the decision instead after re-watching the fight.

Despite 'Suga's belief that he should have won the fight, Hall of Famer Matt Serra didn't buy into that and dismissed the excuses made for the 30-year-old. During his latest appearance on Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson's JAXXON PODCAST, Serra mentioned that his pupil Dvalishvili was dominant and there was nothing O'Malley could do to stop him during the Noche UFC 306 main event:

"What [Dvalishvili] did to 'Suga' Sean O'Malley, you hear afterwards? Well, you know, maybe O'Malley had that main event jitters. Maybe, he's a little flat. Or maybe he got fu**ing Merab on his a*s like he always does. Maybe he expected Merab to come at him exactly the way he did and he could do two things about it, jack sh*t...He couldn't do sh*t about it."
