A UFC Hall of Famer recently recounted suffering a heart attack during his fight against Kazuyuki Fujita in Pride. He explained what factored into the medical episode that forced an end to the bout.

Pride 10 was the site of a clash between Fujita and former UFC superfight champion Ken Shamrock, which for the most part was an entertaining bout. 'The World's Most Dangerous Man' did a great job sprawling and connecting with combinations following the separations and appeared to be winning the fight. Despite Shamrock's success, his corner threw in the towel after he informed them that he couldn't continue, which resulted in a TKO loss.

While speaking to VladTV, 'The World's Most Dangerous Man' confirmed that the bout came at a very stressful time in his personal life. Shamrock mentioned that all his stress piled up and caused him to feel very weak at the end of the fight:

"It was due to stress...I felt weak...I was seeing flashes...and I didn't get hit, not in this moment when I was against the corner. And I just couldn't see anything...What I was told, it was part of the stress because I was going through a divorce. My kids were in a hotel, the ex was in a mental hospital, it was a lot...My heart had problems...and later on I end up getting a stent put in, so there was issues definitely with that." UFC Hall of Famer Don Frye describes scene when Ken Shamrock suffered heart attack

UFC Hall of Famer Don Frye described the scene when Ken Shamrock suffered a heart attack at Pride 10.

During his appearance on LytesOut MMA History Podcast last year, Frye, who was in Kazuyuki Fujita's corner, mentioned that he was heartbroken seeing Shamrock go through the medical episode:

"[Shamrock's] pulse was rapid...It was a bad situation, I called for some oxygen...It broke my fu**ing heart to see that happen to Ken, it really did. Cause even though I was a di*k to Ken and I said things I shouldn't had, I respected the hell out of Ken. And some levels, you're fearing too...he's slick and powerful and for his heart to go out on him, it really hurts." [0:34 - 2:05]
