Former UFC middleweight and light-heavyweight title challenger Chael Sonnen recently gave his two cents on the upcoming rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury. In May of this year, Usyk took away the "O" in Fury's record and handed him his first loss via a close split decision. The fight was so close that a rematch was scheduled shortly after - for Dec. 21.
The decision polarized the fight community, with some justifying Usyk's win while others saw the fight going to 'The Gypsy King'. Sonnen doesn't necessarily agree with the decision, but he saw a reason behind it - and it's political.

"[Oleksandr] Usyk had a reason to fight. That's true. He had reason. [The] president of his country is behind him. [His] country is at war. He had reason to fight. And Tyson Fury had less reasons. And when it went to a decision, Tyson Fury was greatly panned and criticized for saying his [Usyk's] country's at war, of course the judges saw it his way."
Sonnen continued:
"But while he took all that heat and took all that criticism, I had said the same thing prior to the fight. I took no heat in the criticism. I said if this goes to a decision, it goes to Usyk. Why, how can you say that? Because his country's at war! I mean, these are human beings judging human beings. It's the most unfair thing in the world. That one's very obvious."

UFC legend Chael Sonnen saw Tyson Fury winning his first fight with Oleksandr Usyk, rejects idea of a trilogy bout
UFC legend Chael Sonnen has always been known for his hot takes on fights - but this one will raise more eyebrows than most. He's never known for being political but 'The Bad Guy' calling the fight like this before it happened, makes him sound like a political analyst.
Opening up on how the fight transpired, Sonnen said (8:46):
"Now, I don't want to readjudicate that decision. I do believe that Fury won. But I also believed that he won by a round. And that "a" round was really close. I agree. That was a war."
On the prospect of Fury winning the second fight, Sonnen said (10:56):
"By the way, if Fury wins, they'd probably go to part 3. I hope they don't. I hope they don't. Let's live like that. We're good. We're good. Let's call it. Draw. Let's call it. Doesn't go that way though and not very many people agree with me."
The former UFC middleweight has a point there. As per Compubox numbers, Tyson Fury out-jabbed Oleksandr Usyk 52 to 48. The Ukrainian, however, landed more power shots, 122 to 95. The total strikes landed went to Usyk, out-landing Fury 170 to 157. Looking at the numbers alone makes the bout look razor close. Regardless of what happened in the first fight, the two will finally get to settle the score on Dec. 21.
