Adesanya's decisive showdown: The Battle for Middleweight supremacy at UFC 287
When the opportunity arose for Israel Adesanya to face Alex Pereira again, he immediately agreed. Pereira had previously defeated Adesanya, taking the middleweight championship title at UFC 281. Despite being ahead on the judges' scorecards by a score of 3-1 due to TKO in the last round, Adesanya eventually lost the fight. With five successful title defenses under his belt, a rematch with Pereira was inevitable. The two fighters will meet again in the main event of UFC 287, taking place on April 8th at the Miami-Dade Arena in Miami.
As champion, Israel Adesanya was known for his frequent participation in fights and wasn't going to alter his schedule just because he lost the title. Despite having lost to Alex Pereira three times, including twice in kickboxing, Adesanya was not deterred and was willing to face him again.
