Dana White sets conditions for Alex Pereira's heavyweight move
Elsewhere, UFC CEO Dana White has poured cold water on the idea of Alex Pereira moving up to the heavyweight division, at least for now. The Brazilian striker, who has quickly risen through the ranks to become a two-division champion, has expressed interest in conquering a third weight class.
However, White believes that Pereira should focus on cleaning out the light heavyweight division before considering a move up.
Speaking to Kevin Iole recently, White said:
“To think about him to moving up to heavyweight. When you talk about guys like Ciryl Gane, Aspinall, Volkov, these guys are monsters... I like Alex… Let Alex do what he’s doing in the division. And you know what? If he wipes out the entire division and we are sitting here, who’s next? Then let him move up to heavyweight and do some type of super fight there.” [H/t: Yardbarker]

Pereira's potential matchup with heavyweight champion Jon Jones has been a topic of much speculation. However, with White's comments, it seems that the fight is still a long way off.
The light heavyweight division is currently in a state of flux, with several contenders vying for a shot at Pereira's title. The Brazilian will have his hands full defending his belt before any potential heavyweight aspirations can be realized.
