Dana White has revealed that the UFC PI is set to open in Mexico later this year in September.

The Performance Institute will be used to develop and support MMA athletes from Mexico. As revealed by the company, the facility will span over 32,000 square feet, which will serve as a catalyst for athlete development.

The facility will include a full MMA coaching staff and will implement a sports-specific training system developed in consultation with coaches and trainers from around the world. The Performance Institute will also organize and conduct talent evaluation events for local fighters to give them a platform to showcase their skills and abilities for a career in MMA.

It's safe to say that the facility, once opened, will serve greatly for the benefit of the fighters from Latin America. As of now, the UFC has more than 150 Latin American fighters, which accounts to over 20% of it's entire roster.

UFC PI Mexico: Are there any more Performance Institutes around the world?

As of now, there are only two Performance Institues around the world. One in Las Vegas and one in Shanghai, China. The Las Vegas facility was opened up in 2017 to cater to the fighters. Over the years, it has served over 700 fighters from the roster and also athletes from different sporting leagues such as the NBA, NHL, NFL, etc.

In 2019, the second-ever Performance Institute opened in Shanghai, China. The facility happens to be the world's largest MMA training and development facility and is nearly three times as large as the Performance Institute in Las Vegas.

With the third UFC Performance Institute set to open in Mexico later this year, Dana White has revealed plans to open more facilities around the world. During the recent UFC 287 post-fight press-confrence, White revealed that the company is eyeing opening up facilities in Abu Dhabi, Puerto Rico and Africa. He said:

"We're doing Mexico right now, we got to get that one but PI's aren't cheap, they are expensive to build man. We're working on Mexico now and get our sh*t together and figure out what's next because we're talking about opening one in Abu Dhabi, I want one in Puerto Rico and I would love to have one in Africa too."
