UFC 295 is set to go down on November 11th in Madison Square Garden, New York City, and until very recently, Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic were set to throw down in the main event for heavyweight gold.
Jones, however, was forced out due to a pectoral injury. As a result, Sergei Pavlovich and Tom Aspinall will face off for the interim heavyweight championship. Interestingly, Alex Pereira vs. Jiri Prochazka, which was previously scheduled as the co-main, has been moved up to the main event, and Pavlovich vs. Aspinall will now serve as the co-main.
According to reports, however, the UFC is still going to try and put on a Jon Jones-Stipe Miocic fight. Journalist Aaron Bronsteter took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the news that was originally reported by ESPN's Marc Raimondi, tweeting:
"Per @marcraimondi, sources indicated that the promotion still wants to do Jones vs. Miocic in 2024, so perhaps this ends up like Bisping vs. GSP where the winner retired and the interim champion (Whittaker) got promoted to undisputed champion."

There were strong rumors that UFC 295 would be Jon Jones' retirement fight. Moreover, given the fact that Stipe Miocic is 42 years of age, it's unclear how long either man has left in the sport.
Regardless, the name value of the fight makes it an extremely lucrative one and so, it's understandable that the UFC is holding out to make it happen, albeit later than expected.
If the fight does go down and the winner, be it Jones or Miocic, is unable to defend, it's likely that the winner of the Pavlovich-Aspinall matchup will be promoted to undisputed status, much like Robert Whittaker was promoted after Georges St.Pierre's retirement.
Jon Jones suffers pectoral injury during training, clip released on social media
The shocking change to the UFC 295 line-up came after the UFC announced that Jones will likely need 8 months to recover after suffering from a pectoral injury in training.
In a clip that has been making the rounds on social media, Jones can be seen wincing in pain during training, after shooting for a takedown on his training partner. He immediately motions to his upper chest-shoulder area, suggesting that he has suffered a pectoral injury and possibly, a tear.
