The UFC 283 co-main event ended on a controversial note as the flyweight title fight between Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo was halted by a doctor stoppage in-between rounds.
On January 21, Moreno and Figueiredo competed in the first tetralogy in UFC history. In the third round, 'Deus Da Guerra suffered a massive cut under his eye as a result of a vicious left hook from Moreno.
The Brazilian immediately appealed for an eye poke but the referee let the fight go on. As the fight progressed, Figueiredo's eyes swole shut, severely limiting his vision. After taking a look at the injury following the third round, the doctor chose to call a stop to the fight.

As a result, Brandon Moreno was declared the winner by TKO via doctor stoppage.
The outcome of the fight sparked off a debate as to whether it was an eye-poke that hurt the Brazilian or was it a legal strike by Moreno.
Many MMA fighters took 'The Assassin Baby's side claiming it was a legitimate blow that hurt Figueiredo.
Former multi-division champion Daniel Cormier said that there was nothing 'dirty' about Moreno's shot and that the Mexican outclassed his opponent at UFC 283.
"Nothing dirty at all, clean shot by the new champion Brandon Moreno! #UFC283 he really outclassed Figgy tonight. He was cruising."
Tanner Boser expressed interest in a fifth scrap between the two flyweights.
Derek Brunson said that he wanted to see Moreno and Figueiredo fight athletes other than each other.
MMA coach Eric Nicksick advocated for Alexandre Pantoja to be next in line for a title shot.

Henry Cejudo disagrees with the Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Brandon Moreno result
Henry Cejudo, who is friends with Deiveson Figueiredo, was a rare dissenter in the outcome of the UFC 283 co-main event.
Cejudo took to Twitter to express his disagreements and said that the fight should have been declared a no-contest instead of a victory for Brando Moreno.
After four spectacular fights, it appears the rivalry between 'Deus Da Guerra' and Moreno is finally settled. One indication of that comes from the fact that the Brazilian announced in his post-fight interview that he would be moving up to bantamweight.
"I have done a lot. I fight for everyone who has a dream to be here. But, I'm tired of making this weight. That's why I'm moving up."
