Former UFC strawweight champion Jessica Andrade locked horns against rising flyeight contender Erin Blanchfield at UFC Vegas 69.
Originally, a flyweight scrap between Blanchield and Taila Santos was supposed to headline the event. The latter was forced to withdraw from the fight and this gave Andrade an opportunity to step-in on short notice for the flyweight main event.
Come fight night, Blanchfield made a strong statement by finishing 'Bate Estaca' in the second round with a rear-naked choke.

Prior to the encounter, Andrade was having an impressive run in the promotion. The Brazilian had defeated the likes of Cynthia Calvillo, Amanda Lemos and Lauren Murphy in her last three outings.
Blanchfield, on the other hand, was riding a seven-fight win streak, with four of those victories coming in the UFC.
At UFC Vegas 69, Erin Blanchfield proved that she belonged among the top fighters in the women's flyweight division as she made light work of the former UFC title holder.
In the first round, the 23-year-old gave a good account of herself on the feet against Andrade and landed some heavy blows on her. In the second round, Blanchfield used her grappling prowess to take the Brazilian to the ground and then, without much difficulty, sunk in a rear-naked choke that forced a tap out of 'Bate Estaca'.

Valentina Shevchenko will put her flyweight title on the line against Alexa Grasso at UFC 285. The event will take place on March 4 at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada. A heavyweight title fight between Ciryl Gane and Jon Jones will serve as the main event that night.
Shevchenko has been reigning over the 125-pound division for years and has successfully defended her title seven times. Grasso, on the other hand, is also high on confidence after moving up to flyweight and winning all four of her fights in the new division.
