UFC Vegas 97 was headlined by a welterweight showdown between Sean Brady and former UFC title challenger Gilbert Burns. The event took place on Sept. 7 at the UFC Apex facility in Enterprise, Nevada.

Burns walked into the fight with two back-to-back losses against Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena. Brady, on the other hand, scored a submission victory against Kelvin Gastelum in his last UFC outing.
