A lightweight clash between Grant Dawson and Rafa Garcia will go down later tonight (Oct. 12) on the main card of UFC Vegas 98.
Dawson (21-2-1) has been on a tear in recent years. He holds a promotional record of 9-1-1, with his sole UFC loss coming against Bobby Green last year. A win this weekend might help 'KGD' get a ranked opponent in his next outing. He was most recently seen in a unanimous decision win over Joe Solecki.
Garcia (16-3) has had a mixed career in the world's premier MMA promotion, going 4-3. However, he is currently on a two-fight win streak, most recently defeating veteran Clay Guida via unanimous decision.

Round 1
Dawson opens up with a steep kick. He is using kicks and knees to keep his opponent outside of range. 'Gifted' returns with a right hand. As Garcia closes the dance, Dawson forces a takedown.
'KGD' is sneaking in the occasional elbows from top control. Garcia seems to be stuck under his opponent. He is doing little to get back up. Dawson unloads a barrage of ground strikes on his opponent.
Ground control time is adding up for the American. 'KGD' once again sneaks in a few powerful ground strikes on Garcia. Big shots land for Dawson in the closing seconds of the round.

Round 2
Dawson employs teep a kick to start the round. A spinning back kick by 'KGD' sends his opponent off to the cage wall. As his opponent closes the distance, he expertly level changes and sinks in a few ground shots before transitioning to his opponent's back.
He unloads a barrage of ground strikes. A huge cut appears on the left eye of Garcia. A couple more ground strikes and the referee stops the fight. 'KGD' is the victor.
