A former UFC fighter recently took to X/Twitter to aim criticism at SpaceX CEO Elon Musk in response to the latter's solution to a supposed shortage of ultra-skilled engineers in the United States. The entire situation began with Musk engaging a popular X/Twitter page in a debate about Silicon Valley's workforce.

The apparent lack of high-level engineers and tech prodigies on American soil led to Musk claiming that the solution is hiring extremely talented engineers from foreign countries. This drew the attention of none other than Jake Shields, who criticized Musk for his stance.

Shields replied to Musk's original tweet, saying:

"By winning he means billionaires like him because he's able to pay American workers less. There are cases where bringing in a small number of immigrants can be beneficial but bringing in millions of engineers or construction workers isn't it"

This isn't the first instance of Shields taking aim at Musk, who has become something of a fixture in the MMA world due to his friendship with Joe Rogan. In the past, the ex-UFC welterweight title challenger tweeted his feelings regarding Tesla's electric cars. According to Shields, he missed a flight due to his Tesla not having a spare tire, and that the company itself took hours to provide him with road-side assistance.

Jake Shields previously attacked Elon Musk over X/Twitter's policy changes

When Elon Musk acquired X/Twitter, he did so while waving the banner of free speech, which led many to fear that there would be a complete lack of moderation on the platform. However, in late 2023, Musk revealed that calls for extreme violence against Israel would result in account suspensions.

Naturally, this sparked Jake Shields' ire, with the former UFC fighter scoffing at Musk's measures. Shields, who has been very critical of Israel in the past, tweeted:

"Israeli are allowed to write my name on missiles threatening to murder me on X yet a Palestinian aren't allowed to say from the river to the sea Palestinian will be free. Wild times we are living in"
