UFC veteran reacts to Dwight Howard's claim about NBA backlash: "You aren’t allowed to say Free Palestine"

A video clip of Dwight Howard is creating a buzz on the internet, where he claims that he was almost removed from the NBA for his tweet about Free Palestine. The clip caught the attention of UFC veteran Jake Shields, who has now reacted to the video.

The video clip is from Howard's recent appearance on The Gauds Show. While discussing restrictions on freedom of speech in the NBA, Howard recalled an incident from 2014 when he had to apologize to the NBA Commissioner and his agents for a tweet supporting Palestine. The 39-year-old revealed:

“I tweeted Free Palestine. Less than 10 minutes later, I got a call from the NBA commissioner, agents, people in my foundation, and even folks from Texas, telling me to take it down.”

Former UFC welterweight Shields, who is a pro-Palestine activist and a vocal supporter of the region on social media, reshared the clip and wrote:

Former UFC fighter Derek Brunson proposes a fight between Shaquille O'Neal and Dwight Howard

NBA legends Shaquille O'Neal and Dwight Howard have been firing shots at each other for years. However, their rivalry intensified last week, with Howard accusing O'Neal of being jealous of other NBA greats and labeling him insecure.

O'Neal, who has been a critic of Howard's gameplay, took to X and clapped back at him for not taking his comments sportingly. He wrote:

Shaq's X post caught the attention of former UFC fighter Derek Brunson, who took a dig at their feud and proposed a fight between them. He wrote:

“I can line this up . Mma or boxing . What do you guys prefer.”
