In the wake of Donald Trump's assassination attempt, a video has gone viral of a man claiming to have warned local police and the Secret Service of the shooter minutes before the attack while being ignored. The clip has sparked outrage, conspiracy theories and reactions from many, including former UFC title challenger Jake Shields.

Shields has become known for his political opinions on social media while often being critical of public figures. The 45-year-old stuck to his status quo on July 14, one day after the attempt, by using the viral interview to criticize the handling of the situation by government officials.

Shields tweeted:

"This guy very clearly watched it all happen and told the police there is a man with a rifle on the roof and was ignored."

In the footage, the man claimed to have been watching the rally from a rooftop and saw the shooter crawl onto a nearby roof with a gun. According to the story he told to a reporter, he pointed at the man to Secret Service members who were looking at him for roughly two minutes but no action was taken until after the gunshots were fired.

Like many other Americans, Shields was very critical of the whole situation that unfolded beyond just the clip of the man claiming he warned the police to no avail.

Donald Trump plans to continue scheduled appearance in Milwaukee despite assassination attempt

Donald Trump was already the favorite to win the 2024 presidential election before he was nearly killed on July 13 but has received an overwhelming amount of praise for his handling of the haunting incident.

While the former president was applauded for his immediate reaction to the gunshot, Trump has received even more love from his supporters in his following statements. As the 78-year-old's team announced, Trump plans to proceed with his scheduled appearance in Milwaukee for the Republican National Convention on July 15, just days after being shot in Pennsylvania.

The word from the Republican candidate stated that he does not want to "allow a potential assassin to force change" in his plans.

Per his tweet, Donald Trump boarded a plane on July 14, the day after receiving care for the wound on his right ear from the misfired gunshot.
