Elon Musk owns multiple businesses besides acquiring X in 2022 in a $44 billion deal. However, a UFC veteran doesn't seem impressed at the tech billionaire's claims of vanguarding free speech since his takeover of the micro-blogging site. He called out Musk for imposing censorship on anyone criticizing him on his platform.
Former UFC welterweight title challenger Jake Shields, known for his polarizing views, took to X and came down heavy on Musk while accusing him of censorship. He went on to say that Jack Dorsey's time as X's CEO was more free-speech friendly. Shields accused the business tycoon of suspending his podcast manager's account right after he streamed a critical segment on Musk with Stew Peters:
"My podcast manager was banned one hour after I streamed with Stew Peters criticizing Elon. The free speech app is less free speech than it was under Jack Dorsey."

After acquiring Twitter, Elon Musk renamed it to X and reinstated multiple accounts previously suspended by the platform. Once the self-proclaimed free-speech absolutist took over the billion-dollar social media enterprise, Donald Trump, Andrew Tate, and several other key public figures were brought back to the platform.
The SpaceX owner came under heavy criticism earlier for suspending accounts critical of Israel since the start of the Israel-Palestine war in 2023. In his defense, Musk had asserted that his platform won't allow any "genocide enabler" to encourage "genocide." He also flagged a few slogans that according to him were fanning violence.
When Elon Musk joined Donald Trump to watch a UFC pay-per-view event
Elon Musk joined Donald Trump and a few of his Republican colleagues at a UFC 309 to celebrate Trump's win. They were walked inside the arena by Dana White and seated in the front row.
Musk briefly supported the Fighting Nerd glasses while watching the action live in the star-studded event. The pay-per-view event was headlined by Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic in a heavyweight title showdown. It also featured a fight between Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler in the co-main event.
UFC on TNT Sport posted a clip of the tech billionaire and the President-elect walking inside the arena, with the caption:
