UFC commentator and former middleweight champion Michael Bisping does not believe that a fight between Alex Pereira and Dricus du Plessis will become a reality.
'The Count' recently sat down for a conversation with Caroline Pearce and Nick Peet for TNT Sports. Bisping spoke on the potential matchup and insisted the fight won't come to fruition.
The former champion mentioned how Pereira is currently scheduled to Khalil Rountree Jr. and predicted for 'Stillknocks' to lock horns against Sean Strickland in his next outing:
"I think stylistically, [Dricus du Plessis] could be a really tough fight for Alex Pereira. But that doesn't matter because that fight is not happening. Alex Pereira is fighting Khalil Rountree Jr., which was a booking that I don't think anyone expected but it's the one that we've got. And stylistically, it's a fun fight. Dricus is gonna be fighting Sean Strickland."

Du Plessis took on Israel Adesanya for the middleweight belt at UFC 305 on August 17. The fight was an entertaining affair that ended in a fourth-round submission victory for the South African.
After the fight, Pereira called du Plessis out, challenging him to fight at 185 pounds. The middleweight champion responded to the callout, suggesting that instead of Pereira moving down in weight, he himself would prefer to move up to 205 pounds to challenge the Brazilian.
Magomed Ankalaev reacts to Alex Pereira's callout of Dricus du Plessis
Magomed Ankalaev is not too pleased with Alex Pereira's callout of Dricus du Plessis. The Dagestani took to social media to share his thoughts on it.
Ankalaev criticized Pereira for challenging a fighter in a weight division below him. He then promised to emerge victorious in his fight in October and predicted that he would then knock the Brazilian out in under two rounds:
"Pereira biggest chicken in the UFC. He call out guys middleweight, he 40 pounds more than them. I am the only guy, he doesn't even mention my name. I promise I'm gonna handle my business in October and I'm gonna knock you out under 2 round."
Ankalaev is currently scheduled to fight Aleksandar Rakic at UFC 308, which will take place on October 26 in Abu Dhabi.
