It's a strong argument that Jon Jones has nothing to prove in his legendary career. His records will stay unbroken and his place as the greatest to ever do it will remain uncontested for a long time. With this lofty status in the sport comes financial security that's rare even for top athletes today.
The man can stand there and talk and make more money than most of us make in a year. 'Bones' is a bonafide one of one, earning this much is something earned, not given.
In a recent video uploaded on social media, the heavyweight UFC world champion let us in on his money status:
"[UFC president] Dana White, my boss, he told me a long time ago. He was like, 'Jon, money will never be an issue. I never want you to worry about money. It will never be your issue. It will always come to you for the rest of your life.' And it seems like the less I think about money, the more it comes to me. It's just falling in my hands these days. And I'm grateful for it."

Jones continued:
"I make good money doing really, really silly things. Show up to a party for half an hour for a hundred thousand dollars, you know. Sign a few items for a hundred thousand dollars. I barely leave my house for anything less than a hundred thousand dollars these days. It just comes from left and right and I'm grateful for it."
UFC welterweight Philip 'The Fresh Prince' Rowe commented on the post. It's not clear what he meant but it seems quite personal and important to the 34-year-old:
"@jonnybones I'll never forget our convo."
Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall gets closer to getting signed
Speaking of money, the most money-generating fight at the moment is the massive UFC heavyweight title unification bout between undisputed champ Jon Jones and interim titleholder Tom Aspinall.
UFC president Dana White went so boldly to say that this potential bout will be the biggest in UFC history, pitting a living legend against the future of the sport. From a storytelling standpoint, this match-up has gold written all over it.
In an interview with Piers Morgan, Aspinall shed some light on a meeting he's had with White regarding the fight, saying:
"So in all honesty I was expecting him [Jones] to come and maybe negotiate a little bit and he [White] literally walked into the room and said, 'It's happening.' And I said, 'Well he's [Jones is] going to want loads of money. And he said, 'I know. But it's happening. It's going to be the biggest fight in UFC history."
