Joshua Pacio sees his rivalry with Jarred Brooks extending far beyond their highly anticipated trilogy fight on Feb. 20.

After splitting their first two meetings on martial arts' biggest global stage, Brooks and Pacio will run it back for a third time when ONE Championship heads back to Qatar for a loaded ONE 171 card inside the Lusail Sports Arena.

Featuring in the evening's co-main event, 'The Monkey God' will look to unify his interim ONE strawweight MMA world championship with that of Pacio who currently reigns as the division's undisputed titleholder.

However, no matter who wins the rubber match, Pacio thinks their already iconic rivalry will continue until the day one of them walks away from the sport altogether. Speaking to THE MMA Superfan, Brooks said:

"I’m not thinking about that. Maybe. But if I win here, I don’t think Brooks stops. I believe our chapter will not close until one of us retires."

The last time Brooks and Pacio met, was during ONE's debut in Qatar last March. Sadly, their rematch left little resolved.

How did we get to Joshua Pacio vs. Jarred Brooks 3?

After dominating Joshua Pacio to claim the strawweight MMA crown at ONE 164 in Manilla, 'The Monkey God' was set to defend his title against 'The Passion' at ONE 166.

Less than 60 seconds into their sequence scrap, Brooks shot in for a takedown against the fence. He proceeded to lift Pacio off the ground and while attempting to slam him back to the canvas, inadvertently spiked him on the top of his head.

That brought the bout to an immediate halt and Brooks was disqualified, again crowning Pacio the undisputed strawweight MMA world champion.

Fortunately, Pacio did not suffer any serious or permanent damage though an unrelated ACL injury forced him to undergo surgery which delayed their inevitable threequel. With 'The Passion' all healed up, fight fans will finally witness one of the most anticipated rematches of the year this spring in the Middle East.

ONE 171 will emanate from the Lusail Sports Arena in Qatar on Thursday, Feb. 20. Early bird tickets are now available via ONE Championship’s official website.
