Michael Chandler is set to return to the octagon after being out of action for two years. He will co-headline UFC 309 in an intriguing rematch against former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira. Recently, Chandler shared a clip on X that left fans in awe of his physique ahead of UFC 309.

‘Iron’ shared a 9-second clip in which he appears completely jacked, likely cutting weight to make the 155-pound limit before the bout.

The 38-year-old was originally scheduled to face his longtime rival and former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor at UFC 303 back in June this year. However, just a few weeks before the bout, McGregor pulled out of the fight due to a toe injury.

Moving on from that, Chandler accepted the fight against Oliveira at UFC 309, which will take place at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York, USA. This will be their second bout. In the first, the Brazilian overpowered ‘Iron’ and secured a victory in the second round via TKO.

Dustin Poirier predicts Michael Chandler vs. Charles Oliviera

Former interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier has faced both Michael Chandler and Charles Oliveira in the past. He secured a win over Chandler at UFC 281 but suffered a loss against Oliveira at UFC 269.

Having fought both men, ‘The Diamond’ is well-suited to predict the bout’s outcome. When asked on ESPN who he thinks could win, the 35-year-old said that Oliveira is strong on the ground and has a good chance of securing a victory. He stated:

“I think it’s a fun match-up… Chandler is very explosive, an incredible athlete, and can hurt and put Charles away. But, I just think Charles is going to be better everywhere—on the feet and on the ground.”
