UFC flyweight world champion Valentina Schevchenko reflected upon her great experience in training with Xiong Jing Nan back in the summer of 2022.

Prior to her 7th world title defense against Taila Santos, Schevchenko trained at Evolve MMA gym in Singapore with none other than ONE strawweight world champion Xiong Jing Nan.

There’s footage on Instagram of the two warriors sparring together in preparation for Schevchenko’s UFC 275 event, which took place inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium on June 12.

The Kygrzstani-Peruvian fighter recalled those sessions with great admiration for Xiong and the entire Evolve MMA team.

She told Sportskeeda MMA:

“Before my 7th UFC title defense in Singapore, we spent the last two weeks of training at the Evolve gym. It impressed me. The staff at the gym was very friendly and most importantly, the gym had everything you need for productive high-level training. I was very happy to train with all the athletes who helped me in this final stage of my fight camp – Xiong [Jing Nan], Ryuto [Sawada], Thales [Nakassu]. Those are very strong fighters.

While ‘Bullet’ trained for her upcoming fight with Santos, Xiong Jing Nan also took advantage to exchange secrets of the trade to strengthen her overall MMA skillset.

Coincidentally, going into her own 7th-world title defense, Xiong didn’t understate when she said that she leveled up her game ahead of her trilogy match with Angela Lee. Following a five-round battle, Xiong successfully shut down any chance of Lee becoming a double world champion at ONE on Prime Video 2.

Xiong Jing Nan remains in great condition as another potential fight looms around the corner

Xiong Jing Nan was seen hitting the pads in her latest Instagram video produced by Evolve MMA. The 34-year-old slugger has fans questioning who could be next for the reigning strawweight queen, especially with 2023 looming around the corner.

Some fans say it’s time for Angela Lee to get a taste of her own medicine and have Xiong move down to 115 pounds to challenge Lee for a second time. While their trilogy fight delivered in all senses of the word, perhaps Xiong’s next opponent will be against someone in her own division and attempt to beat Bibiano Fernandes’ record for most consecutive world title defenses, or a special rules bout with another world champion. With ONE Championship’s wide array of disciplines, anything is possible for ‘The Panda’.
