Boxing star Gervonta Davis electrified the combat sports world with his spectacular victory on June 15. 'Tank' went up against Frank Martin in a defense of his WBA lightweight title. The fight took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The bout was a competitive affair where 'The Ghost' gave a good account of himself in the opening rounds. But as the fight progressed, Davis picked up pace and started outclassing Martin. The fight ended in the eighth round when 'Tank' landed a brutal left hand that knocked Martin out.

MMA journalist Ariel Helwani showered praise on Davis and called the knockout "vicious":

Undefeated Shakur Stevenson expressed his eagerness to share the squared circle with the 29-year-old Davis:

Former UFC title challenger Marlon Vera boldly claimed that no fighter could defeat Davis inside the boxing ring:
"No one can beat 'Tank'."
