Kyrgyztani fighter Akbar Abdullaev is packing a lot of heat as he makes his return to action this week in a world title fight against ONE featherweight MMA world champion Tang Kai. He is looking to sustain his spectacular three straight knockout wins to start his ONE Championship journey.
The two will collide in the headlining contest at ONE Fight Night 27 on Jan. 10 at the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. Abdullaev will try to make it a short reign for Tang Kai, who is coming off unifying the featherweight belts in his last match in March 2024.
ONE Championship highlighted the dominant run of Abdullaev so far in his promotional debut in a carousel of videos of his KO wins on Instagram, starting with his second-round finish of Turkish Halil Amir in his last fight back in May as well as his 41-second stoppage of Aaron Canarte of Ecuardo in July 2023 and a 44-second KO of South Korean Oh Ho Taek in his debut in March 2023.

Abdullaev made his professional debut in 2020 and has been undefeated now in 11 matches to date.
ONE Fight Night 27: Tang vs. Abdullaev will be available live and for free at U.S. primetime to North American fans with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.
Tang Kai not too impressed with Akbar Abdullaev's undefeated run
While Akbar Abdullaev has been solid in his professional career, going undefeated to date, his upcoming opponent Tang Kai is anything but impressed by it.
The reigning ONE featherweight MMA world champion shared this in an interview with ONE Championship ahead of his title defense against Abdullaev at ONE Fight Night 27 on Jan. 10, highlighting that while the surging Krygyzstani fighter has won all of his matches, the quality of his opponents left much to be desired.
Tang Kai said:
"It's a good record, but just look at all his opponents -- none of them impressed me."
Like Akbar Abdullaev, Tang Kai is also undefeated in ONE Championship, winning all of his eight matches to date in the promotion, the last two with world title implications and both against former featherweight king Thanh Le.
