Allycia Hellen Rodrigues can't wait to get back in the Circle and fight
The Phuket Fight Club affiliate hasn't fought since making her ONE Championship debut back in 2020. Rodrigues managed to dethrone then-atomweight Muay Thai queen Stamp Fairtex in her promotional debut — an incredible accomplishment.
Rodrigues detailed her excitement in an exclusive interview with ONE, saying:
“It’s been a long time since my last fight, so the desire to fight is getting stronger. And I try to put that desire more and more into each training session.”
The Brazilian originally took time off for the birth of her first child and was ready to defend her throne back in December. Unfortunately, her opponent, Janet Todd, tested positive for COVID-19. That forced her to pull out of the contest at the last minute.
The added wait time just makes Allycia Hellen Rodrigues more excited to compete:
"less than 3 weeks to my return to the ring looking forward to it. you can buy the ticket on the website link in my bio👆🏼"
The reigning champ's ability to jump into the deep end and overwhelm Stamp Fairtex in her ONE debut was extraordinary. Fans have been clamoring to see Rodrigues compete again since that performance.
She'll face American striker Janet Todd in a title unification bout. Todd is currently riding a whopping seven-fight winning streak, which includes finishes over Wang Chin Long, Ekaterina Vandaryeva, and Anne Line Hogstad.
Make sure to tune in to ONE Fight Night 8 on March 24 to watch Allycia Hellen Rodrigues make her return to action against Janet Todd in a women's atomweight Muay Thai world title bout, live from the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
All of the action will be broadcast live and for free to Amazon Prime subscribers across North America.
