Then-long-reigning ONE strawweight world champion Joshua Pacio battled against US wrestler Jarred Brooks in the main event of ONE 164. After a five-round back-and-forth affair, the judges decided that 'The Monkey God' did enough to win the ONE strawweight world title.

Jarred Brooks discusses his new ONE strawweight world title

'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks is proud of his recently earned ONE gold. The newly crowned ONE strawweight world champion has put in a lifetime of work to reach this moment.

In an interview with ONE, Brooks explained that he did not celebrate for too long. He's now focused on his next match in the ONE circle. 'The Monkey God' said:

“I don't really look at it like that. I've always been the type of person that forgets about a win. I want to forget about that win and move on. And then see what I can capture next. That's how you have to be in this game.”

In Brooks' post-fight press conference, he discussed if there was any real animosity between him and Pacio. Brooks explained:

"The animosity, when you get in front of somebody that wants to fight you, and when you make eye contact, there’s animosity. There’s real beef there. But you know, the respect is there as well after the fight, and that’s earned inside the circle.”
