ONE lightweight and welterweight world champ Christian Lee has been utterly dominant in the promotion.

The domination of a particular field is measured by the amount and quality of opposition a champion faces. If you look at the caliber of fighters 'The Warrior' had to go through in featherweight, lightweight and welterweight divisions, you'll find a plethora of victories against top level competition in ONE.

From beating former world champions and besting stylistic specialists in their own game to dominating strong contenders, Christian Lee has time and time again had his hand raised. One of the said contenders is lightweight divisional boogeyman, Saygid Guseyn 'Dagi' Arslanaliev.

Lee and 'Dagi' squared off in the finals of the 2019 ONE lightweight world Grand Prix tournament. Lee was fresh from his historic upset win over Shinya Aoki to win the lightweight strap.

The bout was an absolute barnburner with 'Dagi' going full beast mode with his attacks on the ground and standing up. Apart from an early armbar scare and a knockdown from 'Dagi', however, the bout was pretty much inside Lee's hands.

'The Warrior' constantly increased the pressure as he used controlled chaos to sap Arnslanaliev's momentum and overwhelm him with sheer volume. 'Dagi' made a valiant rally in the final round but Christian Lee never took his foot off the pedal and won via a unanimous decision after the final bell.

Christian Lee open to rematch Dagi for the ONE lightweight world title

Ahead of his historic double-champ-winning performance at ONE on Prime video 4 for the welterweight strap against Kiamrian Abbasov, Christian Lee spoke about a possible rematch with 'Dagi' at lightweight.

Lee is the only person to ever soundly beat the dangerous Dagestani in his career, and it would be intriguing to see the two run it back. Since his loss to 'The Warrior' in 2019, Arslanaliev has bounced back with a dramatic FOTY-winning performance over the ultra-tough Timofey Nastyukhin.

In an interview with SCMP MMA, Lee expressed interest in a possible rematch with 'Dagi' in the near future:

"He [Dagi] is still in the mix. Of course, I’ve seen him at the top 1 and no.2 spot in the contenders for the rankings. He’s a very dangerous opponent but the thing is, he hasn’t been active. He hasn’t been actively fighting."

What Lee said is true. Arslanaliev has only fought once in nearly three years. Since his win over 'Dagi', however, Lee has defended his lightweight strap twice, lost it, and then got it back in thrilling fashion. He then capped off his 2022 with a second world title on his shoulder. When it comes to being active inside the Circle, 'Dagi' has nothing on 'The Warrior'.
