WATCH: Danielle Kelly demonstrates how she gets her hair battle-ready 

Danielle Kelly provided a detailed breakdown of how she prepares her hair for submission grappling matches.

Female fighters overcome several issues that most male fighters don’t. One is long hair, which can become a problem if it blocks their vision. Kelly has had to deal with this issue during bouts before, but she’s found a way to ensure this problem doesn't crop up too often.

The American recently demonstrated her technique, and ONE Championship posted the video on Instagram with the caption:

“Prepped and ready to go 👌 Catch Danielle Kelly's submission grappling battle with Ayaka Miura on February 24 at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video! 💪 @daniellekellybjj”

Kelly made her ONE debut in March 2022. She went up against former atomweight MMA world title challenger Mei Yamaguchi. Neither submission grappling competitor secured a finish, leading to a draw.

The 27-year-old American returned in November 2022 and made a statement by submitting Mariia Molchanova with a rear-naked choke in two minutes and fifteen seconds. She is returning against former strawweight world title challenger Ayaka Miura on February 24.

Danielle Kelly is working hard because of the added pressure of being a superstar

Danielle Kelly has emerged as one of the superstars leading ONE Championship’s expansion into submission grappling. Although her popularity will lead to more opportunities, the increased platform adds pressure to succeed. During an interview with ONE, Kelly had this to say:

“I think, being in this position, I feel pretty blessed but also it's work now. People are watching me, there are more eyes on me. So it made me work harder, and work more. This is a job to me, something I like to do. So I think what I got out of it this year is I think I'm a different grappler. So, yeah, I'm taking it seriously and I'm just really, really grateful to be here and be in the spot that I'm in.”

Kelly’s next submission grappling match will be at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video. The American BJJ superstar is taking on judo black belt Ayaka Miura, who has four MMA wins in ONE, all by submission. The catchweight matchup can be seen for free by North American Prime Video subscribers.
