At the time, the American superstar was coming off a draw in her promotional debut Mei Yamaguchi and planned to make a statement by submitting Molchanova, a Sambo specialist.
Molchanova attempted to use her physical strength to counteract Kelly's superior fundamental grappling skills. Unfortunately for the Russian, Kelly secured back control within two minutes and ended the match with a rear-naked choke.
