Demetrious Johnson is upset.
It’s not that something terrible has happened, but he realized that training partner and former UFC world champion Henry Cejudo hasn’t watched one of his favorite cartoons, Dragonball Z. Considering how much of an inspiration the popular anime is to 'Mighty Mouse', it makes sense why he’s bothered.
He brought it up while grappling with Cejudo at Fight Ready MMA in Arizona - a typical conversation to be had between two of flyweight’s greatest on the mats. The video of Johnson and Cejudo rolling was posted to Johnson’s Instagram page, take a look below:

Demetrious’ Johnson’s enthusiasm played out like this:
Johnson:
Have you ever watched Dragonball Z before?
Cejudo:
Johnson:
We’re like saiyans. You can be Goku, I’ll be Vegeta. He’s my favorite.
It’s unknown if Demetrious Johnson was actually attempting to distract his sparring partner to work towards an advantageous position, or if it was an honest question that couldn’t wait until the round was over.
Either way, it’s not totally out of the question for Johnson to ask Adriano Moraes who his favorite character is during their massive flyweight world title fight on May 5, using the question as a diversion.
Demetrious Johnson believes that fighting in Asia cemented his status as one of the best MMA fighters ever
Fighters considered the greatest of all time only earn that respect by their competition.
Former UFC and current ONE flyweight world champion Demetrious Johnson believes that he’s done everything necessary to solidify his status as an all-time great, which includes earning major belts in two hemispheres.
Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Johnson spoke about former MMA pioneers that transcended the sport by fighting in the East and the West:
“When you look at the best athletes in mixed martial arts, they’ve fought on both sides of the world. They become champion in Japan, dominate, then come to America. Rampage Jackson became a champion. Shogun Rua became a champion. Then they came to America. I’m doing the opposite.”
Johnson has been one of the most consistent fighters in all of MMA. He’s fought the best fighters available in the world for over a decade, and only lost four times in twenty-nine fights. Even at age 36, he’s only been finished one time.
The one fighter to figure out the secret sauce to finish Demetrious Johnson - Adriano Moraes - will stand opposite the ONE circle from him come May 5. The two will participate in the main event of ONE Fight Night 10, which marks ONE Championship’s first event in the United States after hosting events exclusively in Asia since its beginning.
The event streams on Amazon Prime during US prime time for North American subscribers.
